Advanced Video&Imaging Special Offer
highly professional system based on DSP, FPGA and Video interface
technologies, the SMT8039
comprises the SMT310 PCI carrier board and
the SMT339 Imaging Module.
The SMT339 is a high-performance architecture for I/O
interfacing, processing, and displaying of video,
standard and non-standard industrial camera formats; it can be used in
applications, such as Robotics, Automation, Video Surveillance, Digital
TV, etc. The module features a single Philips Semiconductors
SAA7109AE/108AE video encoder/decoder.
The SMT339 comes plugged into a standard TIM single-width slot on the
SMT310, and can be
accessed by either a standard Comport or a Rocket Serial Link (RSL)
interface (8 lanes available, 2.5 Gbit/s for each lane). The SMT339
fully supports the Sundance Local Bus (SLB) interface, which provides
the flexibility of more image formats to be
accepted via dedicated add-on cards.

features a two-level cache-based architecture that can perform four 16
16 multiplications or eight 8 x 8 multiplications per clock cycle. 64
Mbytes of external memory (EMIF SDRAM) are included for data storage.
The powerful Virtex-4
FPGA (XC4VFX60-10) of the SMT339 can be used for
further fast processing of the acquired data. 8 MBytes of ZBT SRAM are
as an FPGA memory resource. If
required, the Virtex-4 has two PowerPC cores that can be incorporated
into the end-user's system design.
The Diamond Video Library is the way to
access the SMT339 video capabilities. It makes the most out of the
TMS320DM642 Video/Imaging DSP, providing the user with a ready-made
interface to the DSP video ports, thus making video I/O possible. The
Video Library comes as a simple, well-documented C library for Diamond.

The SMT939 is an SLB
expansion card for the SMT339. It has a Single DVI channel decoder
(input) and a Single DVI
(output), both running at up to 165MHz.
The decoded DVI
data stream is organised in 24bit RGB packets,
separate syncs and clocks. The incoming stream goes through level-translation buffers
which are directly connected to the 2.5V
SLB interface header. The driving hardware can interrogate the DVI
input interface by using an EDID table on the on-board
