On-board ComPort connections
This dialog allows you to display and change the settings of any ComPort connections implemented on the carrier board. By clicking the buttons between pairs of TIMs you can toggle the on-board connection on and off.
When the connection is turned on, the selected
ComPorts on the two TIMs will be connected together; the associated FMS
connectors on the back of the carrier board will be disconnected from the
ComPorts. When the connection is turned off, the on-board connection will be
disabled and the two associated ComPorts will be connected separately to their
respective FMS connectors.
You may also use this dialog to control the
host connection. By ticking the "Host <-> T1C3" box, you set the
carrier board into its default state, with the host ComPort being connected
directly to comport 3 of the TIM in slot 1. If the box is cleared, the
connection is broken and the two ComPorts are joined instead to connectors on
the carrier board.
The settings you select in this dialog will normally be reinstated each time you access the carrier board (from the Diamond server or from a user-program using the SMT6025 SDK). You can prevent this by clearing the box labelled "Restore switch settings automatically", in which case the board will be left in the state into which it was last set explicitly or in its power-up state (host ComPort connected to T1C3 and all other on-board connections disabled).
