Sundance and Etion Create to Exhibit Next-Generation VNX+ and OpenVPX Solutions at DSEI 2025
–New MOSA-aligned products streamline electronic warfare and signals intelligence systems
LONDON and PRETORIA — September 5, 2025 — Modular computing solution providers Sundance Multiprocessor Technology (Sundance) and Etion Create today previewed a portfolio of embedded computing platforms that they will showcase at DSEI UK (September 9-12, 2025 in London).
Encompassing several VNX+ and OpenVPX solutions that directly address the challenges of SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) optimisation, system flexibility and system longevity in ruggedised defence and aerospace applications, Sundance and Etion Create’s offerings accelerate the design to delivery of radar, electronic warfare (EW) and signals intelligence systems (SIGINT).
“Modern backplane architectures are essential when bringing high-performance processors and sensing to Electronic Warfare and Signals Intelligence applications — which is why we’ve made this a priority for our defence customers,” said Flemming Christensen, managing director, Sundance. “When building resource-constrained equipment such as drones, autonomous robots, and miniaturised monitoring sensors, system portability is also key.
“Our support for VNX+ and OpenVPX promotes that portability,” added Christensen. “They provide high-speed, high-bandwidth interconnect fabric to support modern demand for data, with high levels of modularity for ever-changing mission requirements.”
“With DoD-mandated strategies such as a Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) now an essential part of military system design globally, developers need forward-thinking solutions to meet the demands of standards-based defence systems,” said Tobie van Loggerenberg, business development executive, Etion Create. “Together with our long-term partner Sundance, we’re deploying VNX+ and OpenVPX products to new customers, and we look forward to sharing our latest solutions in person at DSEI 2025.”
Key products on the show floor
Etion Create’s Cheetah devices will be the focus of its VNX+ offerings at DSEI.
The Cheetah Tactical Router is a fully managed military-grade level 2/3 switch/router that provides many connectivity options to military vehicles:
- Intra-vehicle data link
- Inter-vehicle data link
- Tactical Data Link (TDL)
- Radio interface and radio fill management
- Intercom interface
- Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS)
- Multiple-camera sensor fusion
- Power-over-Ethernet (PoE)
Adding to this infrastructure, the Intel ATOM®-driven Cheetah Smart Display enables monitoring of up to 6x situational awareness cameras connected to the Cheetah Tactical Router. Built to serve military applications, it has a 600 NITS 11.6” 1920x1080px touchscreen with glove support, enabling reliable operation in harsh operating conditions where technological advantages make all the difference.
With modular expandability through VNX+ and additional communication options for wired and radio protocols, the Cheetah ecosystem provides a flexible, ruggedised solution that Sundance customises for complete application alignment.
