The object tracking solution library enables users to keep a track of dynamic objects over a complete 360° field of view up to a distance of 10 meters from the PAL camera. The ultra-wide tracking field of view and fast refresh rate ensures that the objects of interest are always identified even at relative speeds of 2 meters/second.

The solution instantly identifies and labels any object that is detected in the image and associates a unique object ID for the same. This ID remains consistent as the object moves around the scene. 3D coordinates of the object are provided as well.

This object tracking solution enables key applications for service robots, UV-C disinfection robots, cobots, and even AMRs. For example – Surround and accurate tracking of people can enable people-following in service robots, safety perimeter creation in UV-C disinfection robots, and regulating operational speeds.

The PAL Mini ODOA Kit also supports multi-camera functionality, i.e. one can connect two PAL Mini Cameras and a composite laser scan is published as a ROS topic. This can be used in cases where two PAL Mini cameras are mounted at different locations on the robot as illustrated in the figure below. The user can specify the horizontal field of view for each PAL mini camera and the PAL Mini ODOA kit provides the functionality to create the final composite laser scan.
