Hardware-Rooted Bitstream Security and Secure Manufacturing Workflow

The latest FPGA Frontrunners event took place on 16th April 2026, with Sundance in attendance. The event explored the evolving landscape of FPGA security, highlighting emerging threats, recent advances, and proven mitigation strategies.

Representing Sundance at the event, Chief Innovation Officer Dr. Mans Ahmadian presented a defence-grade secure workflow for the manufacturing, testing, and programming of FPGAs.

As defence and aerospace systems continue to evolve, the security perimeter has shifted. Protecting data in the field is no longer sufficient; the entire supply chain must be secured. Dr. Ahmadian’s talk addressed the risks of bitstream interception and hardware overbuilding in distributed manufacturing.
