Introducing FMC JARIET
Ultra-Low Power 64 GSPS Dual Channel Mixed Signal Front End
We are pleased to announce the FMC JARIET from D&P Electronic Systems as the newest addition to the Sundance Store, a mixed-signal front-end for engineers developing demanding radio-frequency (RF) systems.
Combining dual analogue-to-digital converters (ADCs) and dual digital-to-analogue converters (DACs), the module supports sampling rates up to 64 GSPS and analogue bandwidth up to 32 GHz. It brings high-speed signal capture and generation together in a module for integration with a compatible host carrier.
What does FMC JARIET do?
FMC JARIET provides the connection between analogue radio signals and digital processing.
On the receiving side, its ADCs convert incoming signals into digital data for processing by the host system. On the transmitting side, its DACs convert digital data into analogue signals for use in the RF signal chain.
Having both capabilities makes it relevant to systems that need to receive, analyse and generate signals. The module follows the VITA 57.1 FMC specification in a Long-Form format, providing a modular starting point for RF development.
Key Features
FMC JARIET combines the following capabilities:
- Dual 10-bit ADCs and dual 10-bit DACs, with sampling rates from 40 to 64 GSPS.
- Up to 32 GHz analogue bandwidth, supporting high-frequency RF applications.
- Up to 6.4 GHz instantaneous receive bandwidth, allowing a broad section of spectrum to be captured at once.
- 16 JESD204B/JESD204C lanes for transferring data between the module and host carrier.
- Selectable internal and external clocking, with multi-card synchronisation using an external clock distribution board.
- Six SMPM RF connectors for converter and sampling-clock connections.
- Industrial operating temperatures from −40°C to +85°C.
The analogue frequency range and instantaneous bandwidth describe different capabilities: the first relates to the frequencies the module can handle, while the second describes the width of the signal band it can capture at one time.

Why Direct RF Sampling Matters
High-frequency RF systems often use analogue frequency-conversion stages before signals can be processed digitally. Direct RF sampling can reduce the need for some of these stages, simplifying the signal chain and reducing the number of RF and microwave components required.
For engineers, this creates opportunities to move more functionality into digital processing. Jariet’s Electra technology combines high-speed conversion with integrated digital up/down conversion, supporting different signal-processing configurations.
This approach is particularly relevant when developing wideband systems, where capturing or generating a broad range of signals is central to the application. Synchronisation features also support systems in which multiple channels must operate in alignment.
