ADC Module; Dual Channel 1GHz, 8-bit ADC;
The SMT391 is a single width expansion TIM that plugs onto an SLB base module such as SMT338-VP7-5 (Virtex-II Pro),SMT398-VP (Virtex-II Pro) or SMT368 (Virtex4 FPGA)
The SMT391 is a single width TIM module. It is capable of sampling two analogue inputs at 1 GSPS with a resolution of 8 bits. An Atmel duel channel ADC (AT84AD001) performs the analogue to digital conversion.
The Xilinx FPGA (Virtex II-Pro or Virtex 4 for SMT368) on the base module is responsible for handling data going/coming to/from one of the following destination/source: TI converters, Comport (TIM-40 standard), Sundance High-speed Bus (SHB), Memory on some base modules (DDR or QDR) and RocketIO SerialLinks (RSL). These interfaces are compatible with a wide range of Sundance’s modules.
Q4 2011-
The ADC used on the SMT391 has changed slightly from the one we were using originally. To see the differences please read this document (Replacing AT84AD001B with AT84AD001C)
Features
- Dual channel ADC (Ideal for I & Q channel applications)
- 1GHz sampling frequency
- 8 Bit data resolution
- Custom Clock and Trigger inputs via external connectors
- 12 months warranty
Benefits
Direct RF/IF processing or Direct RF down-conversation can be built with the SMT391 as a stand-alone Module or used in a array of DSP Modules for more performance needed in radar/sonar systems. The SMT391 is comparable to a ultra high-performance Digital Oscilloscope and could be used for evaluating the AT84AD001converter for such applications
