Wi-Fi & SD-card interface for D.SignT’s UniDAQ data acquisition system.

D.SignT‘s UniDAQ system is a DSP-based, programmable and expandable measurement platform for data acquisition and processing. With the new UniDAQ4.Exp-SD-WiFi Wi-Fi and SD expansion card, UniDAQ can be configured, monitored or started wirelessly via mobile devices. The addition of an SD card slot also allows the UniDAQ system to perform data logging.

UniDAQ features analogue inputs, signal conditioning and processing, memories, power supplies, protection circuits and communication ports in a compact-size, easy-to-integrate board to be used in handheld, stand-alone, or 19“ rack-mount devices.

Eight universal inputs support voltage sources, IEPE sensors and microphones, as well as 4-20mA current loops to capture auxiliary process parameters. 24-bit analogue-to-digital converters and synchronous sampling up to 256kSps, combined with a fault-tolerant electrical construction, guarantee precise resolution of highly dynamic signals. Rotating machinery is supported by four digital inputs capturing revolution speed and angle. Two digital outputs can be configured to generate PWM signals. The analogue channel count can be increased to 16 with an expansion board. Multiple UniDAQ devices can be operated in synchronized mode.

As an alternative to Wi-Fi, UniDAQ4 also supports add-on daughter cards to implement fieldbus and industrial network interfaces or a man-machine interface to facilitate the integration into an existing production infrastructure.

Besides streaming data to a host PC, the powerful digital signal processor enables UniDAQ4 to perform not only data pre-processing but also complex analysis algorithms in-site as a stand-alone device. A full-featured C library supports device configuration, data acquisition and communications.

Typical application areas are vibration and modal analysis, machine health monitoring, acoustic inspection and power grid monitoring.

Web Front End

D.SignT have developed a web front end for the operation, configuration and visualization of the data for both the UniDAQ2 and the UniDAQ4.

A full-featured C library supports device configuration, data acquisition and communications as well as drivers for TCP/IP, USB-CDC, USB-TMC and USB-DFU.

Future developments will include a TCP/IP protocol interface compatible with the Matlab Instrument Control toolbox and a MicroPython implementation running on the UniDAQ DSP.

MicroPython is largely compatible with the Python 3 programming language. This will enable a wide range of users to implement data evaluation on the UniDAQ without specialized DSP knowledge.

The MicroPython framework is already finished. We will continue to integrate typical DSP algorithms like filters and FFTs throughout the next months.
