Sundance at DroneX 2026
Highlights and Takeaways
It was great to be back at ExCeL London for DroneX 2026 on 29–30 September. Over the two days, the Sundance and Ainstein teams welcomed visitors to Stand U342 to explore the technology on display, watch live demonstrations and discuss their latest projects.
We enjoyed catching up with familiar faces and making new connections. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, asked questions and spent time with us.
Sundance and Ainstein at DroneX
We were delighted to once again exhibit alongside Ainstein, bringing together Sundance’s embedded computing expertise with Ainstein’s advanced radar technology.
As Ainstein’s UK distributor, we showcased the full range of radar altimeters available through Sundance, providing accurate altitude measurement solutions for UAVs and other autonomous platforms.
There was also plenty of interest surrounding Ainstein’s upcoming OA-Lite and OA-Pro obstacle avoidance solutions. Designed to provide reliable obstacle detection for autonomous platforms, the new products generated some great conversations throughout the event. OA-Lite is designed for smaller, low-SWaP UAV applications, while OA-Pro targets larger and more demanding platforms requiring increased detection range and performance.
A highlight of the event was Maggie Williams, Chief Strategy Officer at Ainstein, taking to the Surveillance Theatre stage to discuss radar technology and its role within the UAV industry. Her talk explored the importance of advanced radar sensing for the next generation of unmanned and autonomous systems, complementing many of the conversations taking place on our stand around radar altimetry and obstacle avoidance.
The strong interest throughout DroneX highlighted the growing importance of reliable sensing, radar technology and obstacle avoidance as UAVs become increasingly capable and autonomous.
What Was on Display?
Our stand featured a broad selection of technology from across the Sundance portfolio. The full VCS³ lineup was on display, including the VCS³ Core, Stack, 3D Kit and VCS³ Snake, alongside the SMT135-C.
We also showcased Solectrix’s SXVPU demo, which proved particularly popular with visitors. Its live person-detection display brought AI-powered vision processing to life, giving attendees an interactive look at real-time image analysis and its potential for robotics and autonomous systems.
The AutoDiscovery robo-dog was another standout feature on the stand, attracting plenty of attention throughout the event. The demonstration brought technology to life and provided visitors with a practical example of robotics and intelligent systems in action.
Our stand gave visitors a chance to see our technology in action.
Key Takeaways from DroneX 2026
Three themes stood out across our conversations during the two days.
1) Helping UAVs sense their surroundings is a growing priority. Interest in Ainstein’s OA-Lite and OA-Pro highlighted the demand for reliable obstacle detection, while the Solectrix SXVPU demo showed how AI vision can help systems interpret what they see.
2) More capability needs to fit into smaller platforms. Developers are looking for powerful computing solutions that keep size, weight and power consumption down – a challenge that prompted plenty of discussion around our VCS³ range.
3) Live demonstrations help start meaningful conversations. From the VCS³ Snake to the AutoDiscovery robot dog, seeing technology in action gave visitors a starting point to discuss their own projects with Sundance and Ainstein.
Thank You for Joining Us
A huge thank you to Ainstein, the DroneX organisers and everyone who stopped by Stand U342 during the two days.
DroneX 2026 gave us the opportunity to catch up with existing customers and partners, make new connections and hear directly from engineers and organisations working on the next generation of UAV and autonomous technologies.
If you met us at DroneX and would like to continue the conversation, or if you’d like to learn more about any of the technologies showcased on our stand, we’d be happy to hear from you.
